Malaysia's flag, called the Jalur Gemilang (Stripes of Glory), has 14 alternating red and white horizontal stripes with a blue canton bearing a yellow crescent and a 14-pointed star. The 14 stripes and star points represent the 13 member states and the federal government. The crescent represents Islam, the national religion.

Malaysia's flag is often confused with the American flag due to its similar red-and-white stripes and blue canton, though the Malaysian flag features a crescent and star instead of 50 stars.
