The word MERCOSUR appears in white below the constellation. The Southern Cross connects to the flags of several member states including Brazil and Australia.
MERCOSUR is one of the largest trading blocs in the world. The Southern Cross constellation was chosen because it is visible from all member countries in the southern hemisphere.
