The Palestinian flag consists of three equal horizontal stripes of black, white, and green with a red triangle on the hoist side. The Pan-Arab colors represent the Arab dynasties: black for the Abbasid, white for the Umayyad, green for the Fatimid, and red for the Hashemite dynasty and the bloodshed for liberation.
The Palestinian flag is almost identical to Jordan's flag, but without the seven-pointed white star in the red triangle. It was originally the flag of the Arab Revolt of 1916.
Adopted: 1964
