Prince Edward Island
canadacanadaprovincelion
An English heraldic banner featuring a large golden lion passant guardant along the top on a red background, with the lower section depicting a large oak tree and three smaller oak saplings on a green island against a white background. The oak tree represents Great Britain and the three saplings represent the island's three historic counties.
Prince Edward Island's flag is proportionally the most unusual of the Canadian provincial flags, being nearly square rather than the typical rectangular shape. The three oak saplings represent PEI's three historic counties: Kings, Queens, and Prince.
Adopted: 1964
