Tottori

prefectureskatakanagreenwhite

The flag of Tottori features a white mon emblem on a green field. The emblem is a stylised katakana character ト (to), the first syllable of Tottori, rendered as a bold, angular design suggesting a bird in flight — a fitting visual pun since 'tori' means bird in Japanese. The green background represents the prefecture's abundant nature, including its famous sand dunes backed by lush pine forests.

Tottori Sand Dunes are the largest in Japan, stretching 16 km along the Sea of Japan coast, and were formed over 100,000 years by sediment from the Sendai River.
