South Holland
provincestribandyellowgreen
The flag of South Holland displays three horizontal stripes of yellow, green, and yellow. The green stripe represents the province's rich polder landscape and agricultural tradition, while the yellow stripes derive from the golden lion of the County of Holland's coat of arms. Despite being the most densely populated province in the Netherlands, home to The Hague, Rotterdam, and Leiden, its flag emphasises the green meadows that historically defined the region.
South Holland is home to Europe's largest port (Rotterdam) and the seat of the Dutch government (The Hague), making it the political and economic powerhouse of the Netherlands.
