Romania
europetricolourvertical-stripes
The Romanian flag is a vertical tricolour of blue, yellow, and red. The blue represents liberty, the yellow symbolizes justice, and the red stands for fraternity. The tricolour's origins lie in the Wallachian uprising of 1821, and it became the national flag during the 1848 revolution.
Romania's flag is virtually identical to Chad's flag; the only difference is a slightly darker shade of blue, making them the most similar pair of national flags in the world.
Adopted: 1989
